Minneapolis Streets.

Since the George Floyd incident, I have been moved to photograph the streets. It started by photographing the burned buildings and the people around them. Then I moved into photographing protests. Last year I photographed the homeless in several Minneapolis encampments and on the streets. I told their compelling stories and it generated donations. This year I will photograph more stories on the street including Asian hate, police brutality, and street violence.

Kilmar Ábrego García, a 29-year-old from El Salvador, was wrongly deported from the U.S. in March 2025, even though a judge had ruled he should stay due to serious threats to his safety back home. He had lived in Maryland since 2011, was married to a U.S. citizen, and had legal work status. ICE detained and deported him by mistake, and he was sent to one of El Salvador’s most dangerous prisons. Despite a unanimous Supreme Court ruling that the deportation was illegal, the Trump administration has refused to bring him back. Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele is also refusing to release him. Protests have been growing across the U.S. in response to Kilmar’s case. Activists, students, and immigration advocates are gathering in cities nationwide, demanding justice and his safe return. Many are calling the situation a clear violation of human rights and due process. Senator Chris Van Hollen has traveled to El Salvador to fight for Kilmar’s release, with support from other leaders like @RepCastroTX and @SenBooker.
